TECHSPEC plastic aspheric lenses are characterized by being lighter than glass spherical/aspheric lenses. They are available in a standard diameter of 25mm, making integration into systems easy. The substrate material used is cycloolefin polymer (COP) Zeonex E48R, which has low haze and low autofluorescence. Aspherical lenses are used in a range of applications, including barcode scanners, laser diode collimation, and integration for OEM and research and development, to eliminate spherical aberration. The use of aspherical lenses in single lens designs helps minimize the number of lenses in optical assemblies composed of multiple lenses. Unlike conventional lenses that adopt a spherical shape on the first surface, aspherical lenses feature a more complex surface shape where the curvature gradually changes from the center to the edge of the lens.
